We are delighted that you are joining us on the 2024 Momentum programme and look forward to helping you make the most of your time in Edinburgh, the world’s leading festival city.
Momentum is the Edinburgh Festivals’ international delegate programme, jointly delivered by Festivals Edinburgh, British Council and Creative Scotland. You can read more about the eleven festivals we represent over on our homepage.
Introduction to Momentum
Please watch our quick introductory video to the Momentum programme, and Edinburgh as a festival city:
Delegate Centre
Our Delegate Centre is the hub for delegate services and events, and our staff will be on hand Monday to Saturday to assist you with any ticketing or itinerary needs you might have. Our team will also be able to help you with the organisation of meetings with partners and key cultural professionals, and can answer any questions you may have about the city, the festivals or the Momentum programme. Refreshments are available throughout the day at the Delegate Centre, as well as a wellbeing room if you need a quiet moment to pray or decompress, so please feel free to stop by at any time.
The Delegate Centre is based within the Creative Scotland offices at the address below:
Creative Scotland
First Floor, Waverley Gate
2 – 4 Waterloo Place
Edinburgh, EH1 3EG
Contact: +44 (0) 793 454 3380
Opening Hours: 10.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday
Please note the Delegate Centre is closed on Sundays. For any enquiries outside of Delegate Centre opening hours, please contact your host directly.
Getting around Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a small city and the vast majority of festival venues are within easy walking distance from each other and from the Delegate Centre. Walking is the best way to see the city and enjoy the beautiful views Edinburgh has to offer (as well as reducing your carbon footprint) - so please remember to bring comfortable shoes!
During August the city is incredibly busy so it is important to leave yourself enough time to make it to your event venue on time. It should also be noted that many shows have a no late admittance policy and, if you do arrive late for a performance, you may not be granted entry. Delegate Centre staff will be happy to help you plan any journeys around Edinburgh.
Delegate Map
You may find it useful to save our handy map for delegates, highlighting festival venues, restaurants and other points of interest around Edinburgh.
To/From Edinburgh Airport
The journey between Edinburgh airport and the city centre (where your hotel is located) takes around 30 minutes, and you can opt for bus, tram or taxi.
Bus
The Airlink 100 bus runs 24/7, every 10-20 minutes. There is free wifi on board, USB charging ports, a dedicated baggage area - and you can buy your tickets in advance or on board.
Tram
The tram runs every 10 minutes between 6am and midnight (with an additional night service on Fridays/Saturdays during August). Tickets should be bought before boarding, but there are ticket machines at every stop; you can also plan your journey online.
Taxi
There are many taxi options in Edinburgh, but we recommend:
City Cab: +44 (0) 131 228 1211
Central Taxis: +44 (0) 131 229 2468
Food & Drink
Some light refreshments, including tea and coffee, will be available in the Delegate Centre on a daily basis, and we can also fill up your water bottle for you in preparation for busy days moving around the city. For more substantial sustenance, Edinburgh has a wide selection of venue bars and restaurants to suit a variety of budgets, providing an extensive array of food and drink options.
Please find the full list of recommendations on our Food & Drink page.
