The 2024 Tattoo Takes Shape

In 2024, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will present Journeys - a show that will transport audiences on an international cultural journey, bringing together the voices and stories that connect our cast, audiences, and cultures of the Tattoo.

Every August, we’re proud to showcase the impeccable musical talents of our home-grown British military, in addition to the nostalgic sound of the Massed Pipes and Drums, our world-class Highland Dancers and a vibrant international cast. In 2024, the Royal Navy will take the helm as our Journeys lead service. They will be joined by:

The Massed Pipes and Drums

Ever a Tattoo favourite, our Massed Pipes and Drums are made up of military and civilian bands from around the world. Their dramatic entrance across Edinburgh Castle’s historic drawbridge is unparalleled. Stand by for more information on the bands that will make up our 2024 Massed Pipes and Drums in 2024.

The Lone Piper

Set high on the Edinburgh Castle ramparts our Tattoo Lone Piper sets a stoic silhouette. A key part of our Show, the Lone Piper marks a moment of reflection to close our August Show.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Performers

We take great pride in presenting our very own Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Performers including Highland Dancers, Pipes and Drums and Fiddlers. They’ll showcase Scottish traditional dance and music throughout our Journeys Show.

Massed British Military Bands

Presenting the best of military precision and modern military music, our Journeys Show will include performances by the British Armed Forces celebrating our 2024 lead service, the Royal Navy.

Majesticks Drum Corp

For the first time Swiss drumming group, Majesticks Drum Corps, will bring its precision drill routine to the capital and serve as a showcase of the extraordinary skills of around 30 drummers, entertaining audiences with incredible timing, showmanship, and a touch of humour.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo takes place from Friday 2 August to Saturday 24 August 2024 on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade.
